David B. Smith Gallery presents a solo exhibition featuring new paintings by Leon Benn in the main gallery, and an interactive installation by Denver artist Laura Shill in the project room. Inspired by his relationship with nature, in particular the forests and coastlines surrounding his studio in Portland, Maine, Leon Benn’s "Fields of Vision" comes in and out of focus, blending aesthetic and conceptual elements into a distinctly textured presentness. Just next door, Shill's installation in the gallery’s project room constructs a contemporary altarpiece to the omniscient presence in the lives of contemporary humans -- the smart phone.
