The Shining. It’s a particularly awesome venue for a dark rock band, and if you can swing the prices, it’s worth getting a room for the night. MDB hasn’t put out a new album since 2015’s Big Dark Love, but a sweet tenth-anniversary vinyl edition of Red of Tooth and Claw was just released. Perhaps the band will focus on material from that 2008 gem for its Estes Park stop, but whichever way MBD goes, the moody cello and Nick Cave-esque murder-ballad lyrics will sound creepily wonderful, as always, at the Stanley (aka the Overlook). Just avoid room 217.
