Randy Newman

C/o Denver Botanic Gardens

Though most millennials only recognize Randy Newman as the troubadour of Toy Story's classic soundtrack, he's one of the most celebrated songwriters of his generation, with honors including two Academy Awards, six Grammys and an induction to the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. In addition to penning tunes for people like Dusty Springfield, the O'Jays, Petula Clark and many others, Newman's own catalogue is filled with songs about heartbreak, such as "Texas Girl at the Funeral of Her Father," or brilliant satire, like "Short People," or "I Love L.A." Newman is performing at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, on Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Gardens's Summer Concert Series. Visit concerts.botanicgardens.org for tickets, $69 to $74, and information.
