The Tenkara Summit, an event celebrating a simple method of fly-fishing from Japan, will take place on September 16th, 2017 at the Estes Park Event Center in Estes Park, CO. This is a gathering of people interested in the simple Japanese method of fly-fishing called tenkara. Speakers include Daniel Galhardo, Founder of Tenkara USA (the first person to introduce tenkara in the USA), Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia, and Dr. Hisao Ishigaki who will be visiting from Japan especially for the event.
The Tenkara Summit welcomes anyone interested in fly-fishing in a simpler way, everyone is invited, even if you have never touched a fishing rod before.
9am – 12 pm: Presentations by Dr. Ishigaki, Yvon Chouinard and more…
12pm – 3 pm: Lunch (included in registration cost, 3 food trucks will be available), fly-tying, rigging and casting clinics, and vendors
3pm -5:00pm: Presentations
5:00-7:00pm: go fish/break
7pm – 10pm: Tenkara social/fly-tying gathering, location to be determined
30-45 minute presentations including the following speakers:
Dr. Hisao Ishigaki will be coming from Japan especially for this event
Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, will talk about his approach to tenkara and conservation
Daniel Galhardo, Tenkara USA founder will be signing books and doing a short talk about tenkara
Jason Klass will be presenting on tenkara techniques
Adam Trahan will be speaking about Accuracy Casting to improve Tenkara Catch Rate
Matt Sment will cover some tips for tenkara fishing
Steve Schweitzer on fishing the local waters, also with his guide books to Rocky Mountain National Park and Indian Peaks Wilderness
The Tenkara Summit is not a big sales event, but we have invited a few vendors to participate. Tenkara USA will have a booth with Summit merchandise and a small amount of product available in case you need a rod.

Lunch on Saturday will be included in the admission. We are bringing in 3 fantastic food trucks to the event so that you have your pick.
