Sunrise yoga sounds like such a healthy thing to do for your mind, body and spirit — but not everyone has the discipline to get up early and stretch all on their own. Thankfully, the Denver Botanic Gardens has offered Sunrise Vinyasa Yoga for the past three years, and it’s back again on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 18.
“We’re hoping to connect people with plants in new, unique ways that help make focus and strength training even more enjoyable,” notes Sarah Olson, adult-program manager at the gardens. “Vinyasa yoga weaves beautiful movement with challenging postures and cultivates a sense of peace and calm by the end of each class. Practicing on a regular basis can improve posture, flexibility and endurance — and beyond the physical benefits, yoga helps to bring a sense of clarity to challenging situations in life, reminds us to stay present and focused in an ever-changing environment, and can help us find happiness and contentment in our surroundings.”
The class is considered beginner-level, but the instructor will also give more advanced options for attendees who want more of a challenge. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the DBG, 1007 York Street; admission is $10 for members and $12 for the general public. Call 720-865-3500 or visit botanicgardens.org.
