Attention, bachelors and bachelorettes: This one’s for you. Tonight Crash 45 brings back The Dating Game for a Valentine's edition, with four rounds of fun for all orientations and ages. Now in its third edition, The Dating Game is a live, Denver-centric version of the ABC television show that ran off and on for several decades starting in 1965. Crash 45 manager and bartender Patrick Karbon hosts (and dresses the part) as he baits bar visitors to join the action. “There were a lot of people terrified to do it at first,” says Karbon, who recalls that the first edition of the game succeeded only after a woman volunteered to play for “the other team” in order to have enough contestants.
Everyone is invited to this throwback matchmaking show — whether you want to join the panel of available singles and answer the questions of your potential mate or just watch the whole awkward thing go down. There will be two “straight” rounds — one male, one female — as well as a gay round and a lesbian round, and live music from Frankie Heart and the Beats will move the show along.
Registration to be a contestant on The Dating Game begins tonight at 7 p.m. at Crash 45, 321 East 45th Avenue; the first round is at 8 p.m. The fun is free, but you must be 21 or over to join in. For more information, visit Crash 45’s Dating Game Facebook event page or call 303-955-2835.
