This year's North American tour of The Animation Show, opening Wednesday, October 22, and running through Friday, October 24, as part of the University of Colorado's International Film Series, features a collection of award-winning animated shorts from eight countries. They were chosen by the co-producers, Academy Award nominee Don Hertzfeldt and Beavis and Butt-head/King of the Hill creator Mike Judge. In Boulder, Hertzfeldt and voice actor Rob May will introduce the program in person. Among the selections: a group of rare, previously unseen films by Judge, Koji Yamamura's Mt. Head, Cordell Baker's Strange Invaders, Richard Goleszowki's Ident, Tomek Baginski's The Cathedral, Bill Plympton's Parking and three new films by Hertzfeldt, including Billy's Balloon and Rejected. Also: Mars and Beyond, a classic from Walt Disney, La Course a l'Abime, by Georges Schwizgebel and two new shorts from Zanita Films, Fifty Percent Grey and Das Rad. Wednesday's opening-night program is at 8 p.m. in Muenzinger Auditorium, on the CU-Boulder campus. On Thursday and Friday, there will be two showings, at 7 and 9 p.m. For more information, call 303-492-1531 or log on to www.internationalfilmseries.com.
