Stop in El Taco de Mexico during a busy rush, and you'll be in the most jumbled, noisy, crowded and cosmopolitan spot in the entire city. The narrow space (which includes a diner-style counter and a few hard plastic booths) will be full of wholesome kitchen smells and packed with people lured by El Taco's well-deserved reputation -- neighborhood regulars, foodies with a yen for the simple charms of authentic Mexico City flavors, cholos, gringos and everyone in between. Don't miss the excellent chilaquiles or, for that matter, anything smothered in the amazing green chile. El Taco de Mexico's version is decidedly Mexican and a far cry from the Colorado version of the dish; it's thin, green, and full of large diced chiles. It's also some of the best in town.
