When Revelry Kitchen opened in West Highland in summer 2015, it gave people reason to rejoice — and not just neighborhood folks looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast or lunch. Founded by two front-of-house veterans, sisters Sara Harris and Vanessa Tuel, and their mother, Robin Harris, Revelry has the potential to become a destination restaurant for anyone in Denver seeking out a morning or midday meal. Both Sara and Vanessa worked at Rioja, and Sara also spent time at Bistro Vendôme. To helm the kitchen, they hired Enrique Socarras, a talented chef who made his mark during most of a decade at Cuba Cuba and cooked at the James Beard House in New York City as part of the Denver Five, a group of the town’s best chefs. Socarras was given free rein with the menu at Revelry, and he nailed it, putting out an all-day assemblage of dishes that strike the right balance between contemporary and comforting, including savory chicken and waffles, a cubano on house-baked bread, and chile-spiked biscuits with cumin-and-chorizo gravy.
