Nothing much has changed at this local landmark since the days when John Wayne swaggered through the doors. The seafood chowder, prime rib and iced oysters have been around forever, and once you belly up to the dark-paneled bar, you'll be hard pressed to imagine the place without those classics. And however incongruous the gingham tablecloths are -- they bring to mind Midwestern picnics instead of high-sea schooners -- they seem as at home as the nautical accents you'll find on the coffee cups, the barstools, and over the doors. There are no signs that anything in Ship Tavern going to change soon, and that's how we like it.
