Since it opened in 1984, Sushi Den has built a reputation based on gracious service and the freshest seafood, sourced from the Sea of Japan and owners Toshi and Yasu Kizaki's hometown Fukuoka fish market. While the sushi bar excels at the mainstay American favorites -- rich toro, buttery salmon and ruby maguro -- Sushi Den also pays homage to the history of Japanese cuisine with Edo-style sushi -- flame-kissed or soy-marinated treasures -- and unctuous bowls of tonkotsu ramen. Live scallops and abalone may hit the daily-specials list on short notice; keep your eyes on the restaurant's Twitter feed and some spare bills in your wallet to get a jump on the dining competition.
