A few years after opening Rock-a-Billies in Arvada, owner Jimmy Nigg took over the former Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop space at 1611 Platte Street and transformed it into the Monkey Barrel and opened it in the fall of 2013. The spot, which boasts a mural of former Sex Pistol Sid Vicious on the back wall, brings in punk-, alternative- and modern-rock acts a few nights a week. The bar, which serves a number of local craft beers, seats forty, and there are three booths with their own TVs.
