Cherokee Dining on 12th Avenue -- which many regulars refer to as the Cherokee Grill -- has been a mainstay of the Golden Triangle for three decades, and its pleasingly split personality keeps attracting new fans. During the day, it's a homey, pleasant place to go for lunch before a visit to the Denver Art Museum; at night, it attracts businesspeople who want to fuel up for the trip back to the 'burbs, as well as neighbors who use this kitchen more than they do their own. American classics are the main draw: Benedicts, skillets and omelets at breakfast; burgers, sandwiches and soup at lunch; beef, chicken and noodles for dinner. But the Cherokee also features a surprising selection of Mexican entrees. The combinations are huge, as are the third-pound burgers. During warm weather, the patio is a huge draw; during any weather, the dining room inside has a cozy, cottage-y feel.
