GB Fish and Chips

1311 S. Broadway
Denver, CO 80210
720-570-5103
Website
Fish, chips, prawn chips, Cornish pasties, bikers, punks and soccer jerseys -- what more could you ask of a neighborhood chipper in Denver, Colorado? Owner Alex Stokeld has done a fine job of transforming this cement bunker of a space into a down-and-dirty fish joint, with picnic tables in the dining room and beers at the bar. The menu is short and to the point; the food excellent. Too bad the place isn’t open later for those last-call crowds in need of some from-the-fryer goodness while sobering up. - Jason Sheehan

The Inside Word on GB Fish and Chips

I could only imagine that if G&B were in England, it would be a franchise much like Illegal Pete's, only where Hooligans would hang out before a football match. However, most the patrons seems civil and are willing to share one of the long wooden benches and tables that are provided in the narrow dining area, which is also denoted by soccer game on the screens and nostalgic apparel tapered to the walls like tapestries. Nevermind the atmosphere and decor of the in and out fishery, the food is amazing. Nothing better than having a choice of fish, soup, sides, chips and how much you want. The only draw back are the prices and the lack of seasoning on the chips which seems to require a heavy dose of vinegar.

The cod is the way to go-IT'S THE VERY BEST fish & chips IN COLORADO!!!...avoid the shrimp-they have too much batter though... Seating is a bit odd-set up like an English pub, so you may sit with people you've never met, but don't be uptight, this place sure isn't! This is a MUST VISIT restaurant for ANYONE who likes fish!
