The historic bungalow in the Best Breakfast Burrito Neighborhood has held many things: It was the original La Loma, then housed a Chinese joint, a Filipino restaurant, a weird international cafe and a coffeehouse before it went dark. But now it's been resurrected (and completely renovated) as Gordo Loco, home of a lot of big ideas. (The owners got their inspiration from watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which made them think Denver needed a place that was truly over the top.) Those ideas range from a 98-cent breakfast burrito -- which shaves a penny off the closest competitor -- to the $15, five-pound El Diablo, a huge burrito stuffed with everything from meat to french fries smothered in green chile; eat it in fifteen minutes and you get your meal for free. In between, there are street tacos and more burritos and salads (if you must) and an array of huge burgers -- everything from a deep-fried version to a Monte Christo to the pinata (two patties stuffed with green chile). No liquor license, but with horchata shakes, who needs alcohol?
