At Large Margeâ€™s, the Philly cheesesteaks follow the textbook rules to a T. Every Philly cheesesteak should be constructed with a fresh roll thatâ€™s neither too hard nor too soft and still has plenty of chew; enough cheese, preferably Cheez Whiz, to require more than a single napkin; and finely chopped ribeye thatâ€™s never too tough to chew. As those outside of Philadelphia have discovered, not every cheesesteak subscribes to those rules -- in fact, most fail epically -- but Large Margeâ€™s is the epitome of a perfect cheesesteak culture. These cheesesteaks are gleefully messy, served on Amorosoâ€™s rolls and enlivened (if you want) with Flaming Poo, a tongue-searing hot sauce that captures the moxie of Marge, the affable owner who kindly brought brotherly love from Philly to Denver. And thereâ€™s an extra taste of Denver available in the green chile Margeâ€™s serves as a side, an add-on or in a to-go cup.
At Large Marge's we use only the best quality fresh produce, meat from Philly, and the one and only Amoroso rolls. Large Marge's was started in 2007 in Wheat Ridge by a woman named Marge. Marge lived in south Philly and brought all of the true Philly style and attitude with her to Wheat Ridge and found herself starting a Philly Cheesesteak restaurant. She was open 6 years and passed the torch along to 2 young men named Brett and Tyler. All of the recipies, procedures, etc have been passed along from Marge, and are used today to continue on Large Marge's Philly Cheesesteaks just the same as the day she opened the doors. In 2011 Large Marge's Philly Cheesesteak was voted "Best Philly Cheesesteak" in the Best of Westword awards. We are proud to say we have the best Cheesesteak outside of Philly, and will continue to bring you the highest quality steak sandwiches you can find.
