When the Streets at SouthGlenn opened on the same swatch of land that once housed a shabby mall, the development brought a pack of sleek restaurants that represented the urbanization of the suburbs. The star of this show is Tarbell's, a haute American joint owned by former Iron Chef America winner Mark Tarbell. The space is breezy, with a homey, modern decor, and the food is impressive: solid renditions of American classics, including pot roast and macaroni and cheese, and creative meditations on the new American cuisine, with house-cut Omega-3 pasta and fusions of flavors that combine the East and the West. But the very best thing at Tarbell's could be the Five Napkin Burger, with two burgers oozing velvety meat juice from a toasty challah bun. You'll need all those napkins.
