The name says it all: A New Year Underground is not going to be the highest-profile New Year's Eve party in the city. However, local DJs Beekay, Brick Lee, Brandon Bass, Eli D, Rescue, Sean Michaels, Spindler and Uriah West are no strangers to throwing good parties — old-school style, packed with friends you haven't yet met and beats bound to get your ass on the dance floor. Their blend of dubstep, house and techno will showcase some of the most popular sounds heard in 2010 — plus some goodies that probably won't be popular until mid-2011, when the rest of the world catches up to current underground sensibilities. Plus, the 21-and-up admission standard means you won't be wrestling with scantily clad teenagers for dance space. A New Year Underground kicks off at 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve, December 31, at Theory & Practice, 738 Santa Fe Drive, and the cover is a mere $20.
