He is indeed a funky Homo sapien, but you can just call him Del. The hip-hop human has won acclaim for his unique phrasings and intelligent, often witty lyrics -- not to mention being the cousin of the infamous Ice Cube. Breaking from the West Coast scene's gangsta cliches, Del tha Funky Homosapien was crowned one of the decade's most promising artists following his debut album, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, in 1991. Finding kindred spirits among the Hieroglyphics crew, Del's focus on the family culminated in the collaborative release of the outfit's 3rd Eye Vision and an exhaustive support tour. With a brand-new disc, Full Circle, Del is back on the road with Souls of Mischief, Casual and Pep Love. If you missed last week's shows at 32 Bleu and Fox Theatre, shame on you -- but you can redeem yourself at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins this Thursday, October 23, where Del and the gang will be joined by Encore, Little Brother and Z-Man. We promise it's worth the drive.
