There'll be more Monday-night action on March 14, when Bare Witness marks its second anniversary with "The Evol Dub Sessions V.1" at Mario's Double Daughter's Salotto, 1632 Market Street. For the past two years, weekly residents the Monkey Man and Dr. Zen (and now DJ Klaw, who joined up late last summer) have been spinning a mix of trip-hop, reggae, down-tempo, soul and jazz that earned them Best Monday Night Chill-Out in Westword's Best of Denver 2004. The birthday festivities include the three resident DJs playing host, along with a live video-mixing battle on two large screens and giveaways provided by the Bare Witness crew, Dorje Records and Klawkorp.
Coyote Ugly is coming to Denver, joining the roster of clubs at the Denver Pavilions. This will be the fifteenth link in a chain made famous by the 2000 movie of the same name that was notorious for the antics of its scantily clad female bartenders. The March 23 opening is a benefit for Hospice of Denver; surprises in store that night include appearances by a few of the pretty Coyote Ugly bartenders from other bars.
In the meantime, though, Denver's Coyote Ugly is looking for some local talent. Auditions will take place from noon to 5 p.m. March 11 through 13 at the bar, which is on the third floor of the Pavilions. This could be your chance to howl.
