DJ DRC spins Friday the 13th at Lumonics
Lumonics has been hosting electronic-music events in its beautiful, psychedelic space for some time now, and this year, the venue is teaming up with Tune Events to present Tune In Fridays, a new series of underground parties. For the inaugural show, DJ DRC is coming in from San Francisco. The twenty-year-plus electronic-music veteran has recently made some serious noise with DJ Denise; she also works as a producer, lyricist and singer and has a background in Hindi music theory as well as classical and pop vocal training. She's spun discs and sung live for Ars Nova, and her house-influenced beats are reminiscent of Donald Glaude's. DRC winds up the crowds with frenetic siren sounds and deep, croaking bass lines before dropping in the beats that are sure to bring bodies onto the dance floor. Put her sound together with the beautiful light sculptures and overall space-station ambience of Lumonics, and this is sure to be a debut to remember.
