School Aid, Sunday, November 11, at the Paramount Theatre, is a charity event organized to raise money for New York City students and teachers affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks. But altruism is not the only incentive here. With performances by Three Degrees of Freedom, Liz Clark, Tinker's Punishment and On Second Thought (pictured), School Aid will provide some of Denver's most up-and-coming talents with the chance to shine in the Paramount's regal environment. The musical lineup, which ranges in style from the energetic bop of On Second Thought's ska/rock-and-roll fusion to Clark's acoustic intimacy, is a nice sampler of Front Range-infused sounds. The evening's fundraising efforts include a silent auction and the sale of a specially compiled benefit CD featuring sixteen Colorado artists. If there is something good that's come out of what happened two months ago, it could be the nonstop expressions of music as a catalyst for healing. Strike up the band.
