The Procussions, a three-man hip-hop crew consisting of Colorado Springs natives Mr. J, Resonant and Stro the 89th Key, are about to break out massive with a debut full-length, Iron Sharpens Iron, slated for release this fall on the indie imprint Basementalism records. According to Adict, label head and former host of KVCU-Radio 1190's weekly hip-hop showcase, Basementalism, the new record will enjoy widespread distribution courtesy of a deal just inked with a Boston-based distributor, Traffic. The Procussions are also prolific: In March the crew dropped a ridiculously nice twelve-inch, titled "Leave Her Alone." Fans of Pete Rock and DJ Spinna will appreciate this delicious piece of vinyl, which finds Stro's bouncy bass lines and jazzy loops alongside the three MCs' poetically positive, rapid-fire rhyme flows. The Colorado-based collective relocated to Los Angeles a year ago to seek out business opportunities and establish a foundation in the L.A. underground. Don't miss the chance to catch the players as they distill their metallurgical mix of beats and rhymes on a mini-homecoming tour: Friday, July 25, at 'Round Midnight in Boulder; Saturday, July 26, at the Elemental Flavaz festival at the Universal Lending Pavilion, with KRS-One, Qbert, Living Legends, Wu-Tang's Raekwon & Inspectah Deck, Rahzel of the Roots and the Crown City Rockers; Sunday, July 27, at the Starlight in Fort Collins, with Minezai and the Krunk Bros.; and Monday, July 28, at the Soiled Dove for You Night.
