Techno has always been influenced to varying degrees by the aggressive percussion and atonal noise of industrial, a connection readily apparent in the forward-thinking output of London's Perc (aka Ali Wells). One of the leading producers in techno today, Perc released Wicker & Steel, his debut, last year on his own imprint, Perc Trax. The album delivered some of his most raw and experimental industrial-tinged techno to date, fusing elements of 4/4 with broken beat and doubtless offending the sensibilities of more than one techno purist in the process. Perc's performance at the now-defunct Would Shop a few years back was regarded as one of Denver's best techno shows at the time.
