The Taste of Colorado is still right on the money when it comes to providing quality acts -- like, for instance, Eddie Money, who's headlining this year's festival. Accruing interest since 1977, the Brooklyn-based singer garnered platinum sales with songs such as "Baby Hold On," from his self-titled debut. In a year saturated with Eagles-style albums and fevered disco platters, Money's straightforward tunes and Everyman appeal paid off in spades. Keen songwriting skills redeemed an unimpressive voice and crafted solid hits from basic blue-eyed soul, and Money earned equity with successive releases, particularly among fans of working-class music. His market value rose in 1986 with "Take Me Home Tonight" -- a sumptuous duet with Ronnie Spector from Can't Hold Back -- before peaking with "Walk on Water," from 1988's Nothing to Lose. The irresistible spirit of Money's original cache is alive nearly thirty years later, its infectious energy still untainted despite dwindled sales after a post-'80s surge.
