Stacey Pullen is not merely another DJ from Detroit. He's one of the movers and shakers in that city, which remains the top spot in the country for innovative techno. Pullen's association with Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson brought him into the international electronic-music scene early in his career, and he's remained there by consistently putting out some of the dirtiest, funkiest techno/tech-house you've ever experienced on a dance floor. He's constantly playing with new equipment and technology, and he's known for spinning both original tracks on vinyl and tracks on CD that he's edited and burned himself, often the day of the show. His sets are famous for a reason: He tailors each journey to the crowd like few other musicians can, pounding your feet into the floor until you're numb (and ecstatic) with exhaustion. Catch Pullen at NORAD Dance Bar on Saturday, June 30, with DJ Sense', Andrew Kevens, Ejay, Ivy and Bones.
