Ten years ago, Mark Sundermeier started the Acoustic Circus series with some friends while he was at the Soiled Dove, and they put out a two-disc compilation that featured a variety of local acts in various genres, all playing songs in an unplugged format. Now the talent buyer at the Toad Tavern, Sundermeier started reviving the Acoustic Circus weekly series last December and has released Acoustic Circus Vol. II, a compilation of eighteen artists, including No Fair Fights, Megan Burtt, Bailout, Ryan Chrys, Buckstein and Flash Mob, each doing captivating stripped-down acoustic versions of their songs. (A third volume is slated for release in August.) Free copies of the disc — which is totally worth seeking out — will be available at a CD-release show this weekend at the Toad Tavern.
