Communikey had a huge year in 2011; the annual music festival brought beats to the masses for the fourth year in a row this past spring. But you won't have to wait until April to get another fix: On Saturday, December 31, head to A Very CMKY NYE, which will feature local giants such as Ivy, Patty Hertz and Ejay & Khalib, as well as Montreal's Vincent Lemieux, the DJ and producer who's also one of the curators behind Montreal's acclaimed MUTEK Festival. Lemieux is a pioneer of that city's unique brand of micro-house; his sets contain the danceable beats house music is known for, with a slightly glitchy and minimal tone that stays clean and lovely without sacrificing complexity. Lemieux has been hitting the decks for more than a decade, honing his sound and his skills, so if you're looking for a place to dance all night, look no further. A Very CMKY NYE (which is a 21-and-up event) will take over the newly minted Shine (2027 13th Street) and the Shack (2017 13th Street) in Boulder at 9 p.m. for just $25.
