Mark Farina is back for another soul-filled evening that's bound to pack the dance floors at Bar Standard; Detroit's Mike Huckaby will also be in town tonight, which might make things difficult for lovers of electronic music in this city. And that's far from the only such conundrum on this weekend's Dance Card; take a look:
Jazzy, soulful house-music legend (and Mushroom Jazz powerhouse) Mark Farina has left his stamp on Chicago and San Francisco, and he'll be in Denver once again tonight at Bar Standard for Full Flavor Fridays. If you're looking for a place to shake the cares of the week from your dancing shoes, this is it. Armbar and Ryan Mack will provide opening support. (9 p.m., 21+, $10)
Bassic Fridays is big, bold and back for another week at Beta with Andy C, DJ Fury and Mystical Influence dropping the drum-and-bass. In the Beatport Lounge, P.U.N.C.H.I.S. presents Detroit legend Mike Huckaby with Normal Ones and Benjamin Shreves. (9 p.m., 18+, $5-$15)
Narky Stares of Damn Gurl fame will join the Lipgloss crew, resident boyhollow and guest/part-time resident DJ Tower, tonight at La Rumba for what's bound to be a night to remember in underground dance parties. (9 p.m., 21+)
Andy McLoughlin of Kinky Movement, one of the UK's underground-house collective hidden gems, is coming out on Saturday night for Drunk and Kinky at 2200, also featuring Uriah West and Rescue. (9 p.m., 21+)
Sultan and Ned Shepard are heading in from Montreal to mix it up at Beta; the duo has remixed tracks for such notables as Kaskade and Tiesto, so they'll no doubt be music to the ears of the masses. Dragon, Marshall Monica and Jay Sustain will support. (9 p.m., 18+, $10)
The Blend celebrates its first anniversary on Saturday at the Meadowlark, featuring PNut, Brick Lee and Hoang. Get housed with some of Denver's finest. (9 p.m., 21+)
The monthly psychedelic-music gathering ION returns to Lumonics for another month on Saturday night with Primordial Ooze, Ascension, Alexander and Caro. (9:45 p.m., all ages, $10)
EOTO's Michael Travis and Jason Hann will bring their livetronica show with a 3D stage design that has to be seen -- and experienced -- to be believed. Jantsen and Omega will support with what's bound to be a decent amount of bass shaking the Boulder Theater. (8 p.m., all ages, $24.50-$27.50)
