Weekend's best party bets: Greatest Show on Turf, Queenz of Hip-Hop and more
You wanna party? Oh yes you do. It's Friday and you don't have anything better to do! It's the third day of the Greatest Show on Turf celebrating DJ Ktone's birthday, the Analog Space crew is getting down at Meadowlark, there are tons of reggae parties tomorrow, as well as hip-hop house parties galore! Tonight, Core DJs, Topshelf, Ktone and special guest Tony Neal will be rocking Club Dreams for the third night of shenanigans celebrating Ktone's birthday. Everybody and their mother will be at this one. Club attire, $10 to get in.
First Fridays celebrates the renewal of the new Denver chapter of the NAACP with a swanky get down at Sippers Lounge. Sounds and energy are provided by DJ Different at this party, which is $10 to get in (or free entry with bottle service). Celebrate new things with this black on black affair.
Over at Meadowlark, the Analog Space crew consisting of Peter Black, Khalib, Stephen Barnes and more will be getting down with an experimental edge. Come check these guys keeping it super funky for your ass. You might even shake a tail feather or three. 21+up.
Saturday from noon until 6 p.m., the 3rd Annual Queenz of Hip-Hop is going down on the Auraria Campus with sounds by DJ Manizer and DJ Bella Scratch, live art by Xencs L. Wing, a performances by Venus Cruz and Patience, and hosted by Day Acoli. Bring the babies! B-boy/b-girl battles and tons of art. Free!
As per usual, the reggae scene will hold down Saturday night with a fly party at Blue Ice, with Icy Saturdays, a party all about good vibrations featuring the sounds offered up by Stero Lion and the Govahment Promotions. 21+up, drink specials all night long. Have a red stripe or three!
Also Saturday at Opal, DJ's Bushy Bush and Cleon will be on the ones and twos providing the dopest island atmosphere. $5 to get in, 21+up, tremendous drink specials and irie vibes, perfect for winding and grinding on the dance floor.
Tooey's, which hosts the '90s house party with Cysko Rokwel, Es-Nine and company, is most definitely the place to be. The dance floor will be packed, the party is always free, and you can bet your favorite music will be blaring through the speakers. Do this!
