Your Guide to Dope 4/20 Concerts in Denver

While 4:20 p.m. has long been an ideal time to smoke a blunt, April 20 in Colorado has become an unabashed holiday for tokers as well as a hot spot for pot-centric musical acts who conveniently choose to play the state around this time of year. Sure, there are a bunch of shows on 4/20, like the now-annual appearance of Snoop Dogg at Fiddler's Green and Flosstradamus at Red Rocks, but there are also a number of shows leading up to 4/20 and after it. 

Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15

Brooklyn-based hip-hop group Flatbush Zombies get a head start on 4/20 with two nights at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Thursday, April 14, at Friday, April 15. The shows start at 9 p.m., and tickets are $25-$28.

Denver 4/20 Fest, a three-day event — from Friday, April 15, through Sunday, April 17 — at the GlitterDome, features music by Lil' Flip.  It runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days, and tickets are $15. 

Saturday, April 16

The Denver Annual 4/20 Rally features rappers Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa at Civic Center Park. 

Following the 4/20 Rally, there will be a second line from Civic Center Park to Stoney's, where the Soulful Strutters Brass Band perform at 9 p.m. The event is a benefit for Rising Foundations, and proceeds from the event will be used to renovate a 150-year-old home in New Orleans's Central City neighborhood that will provide free transitional housing, re-entry programming and community health-care services for people coming home from prison.

New Orleans rapper Curren$y is at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom with openers ITsEVi, Planes!, Trayce Chapman, Lêj3n and Talent Among Us. The show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $25-$40. 

Tuesday, April 19

Cypress Hill with George Clinton & Parlaiment Funkadelic, Action Bronson and Chronixx at the Ogden Theatre. (The show was recently moved from the 1STBANK Center). The concert starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $50. 

Nearly half of the Wu-Tang Clan will be at Red Rocks on 4/20 Eve on the Rocks, with Method Man & Redman featuring Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, as well as openers Collie Buddz, Joey BadA$$, Stick Figure, Dizzy Wright, The Underachievers, Jarren Benton, Whiskey Blanket and special guests. It all kicks off at 4:15 p.m., and tickets are $35-$150. 

Forever Fresh - A 4/20 Tribute Celebrating the Life of Bankroll Fresh at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom features Snootie Wild, Colonel Loud, Rico Richie, Prez P, Doobie Newton and Ray Reed, as well as Denver DJs Ktone and Topshelf. Show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10-$20.

Wednesday, April 20 

The third annual Merry Jane Wellness Retreat at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre features Snoop Dogg, Future, Kevin Gates, Tory Lanez and Raven Felix. The music starts at 4: 30 p.m., and tickets are $35-$85.

Global Dance presents Hdyfest, which features headliner DJ duo Flosstradamus with openers Snails, Valentino Khan and Chill Harris at Red Rocks. It kicks off at 7 p.m., and tickets are $45-$50. 

Hard-puffing hip-hop punk act Kottonmouth Kings headline the Gothic Theatre, with Marlon Asher, Whitney Peyton, Chucky Chuck and Slo Pain opening. Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets are $18-$22.

Randy and Mr. Lahey from Trailer Park Boys are at Summit Music Hall starting at 8 p.m.; tickets are $20-$50. 

Upcoming Events

Method Man & Redman x Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, who were at Red Rocks on 4/20 eve, play Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom with 8Ball & MJG and special guests. Show starts at 9 p.m., and general-admission tickets are $42, while VIP balcony access is $75. 

West Coast MCs and producers Zion-I and Evidence are at Cervantes' Other Side with openers Thin Air Crew, the Dirty Gemstones and Common Vibes. Showtime is 9 p.m., and tickets are $23-$25. 

Country singer Kacey Musgraves announced that she'll be providing a special treat for her Denver fans with a special 4/20 performance at the Bluebird Theater. 

Rapper Afroman, who was nominated for a Grammy for "Because I Got High," headlines the Aggie Theatre with EQ, Soul Men, Prinz Spadez and Diviine. Show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $15-$20.

California-based reggae band Fortunate Youth is at the Fox Theatre, with openers Na'an Stop and Policulture. Showtime is 9 p.m.; tickets are $12.50/$15. 

Leftover Salmon, which usually plays bigger venues like Red Rocks and the Boulder Theater, plays the much more intimate Ophelia's Electric Soapbox. Show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $60. 

Deadphish Orchestra is at Quixote's True Blue, with Great American Taxi, Glostik Willy, Wanyama Band, and Zeta June. It starts at 9 p.m.; tickets are $10. 

Wi-Day 4/20 at Herman's Hideaway features reggae acts Pressure Busspipe, Marlon Asher and Gypsy Whiskey.  Show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $30/$35. 

Los Angeles-based metal band Otep brings its Generation Doom Tour to the Marquis Theater, with Lacey Sturm, September Mourning, Through the Fire, Doll Skin. Doors open at 5 p.m.; tickets are $18-$20.

Lost Lake Lounge's 4/20 bluegrass show features Caribou Mountain Collective, Ragged Union, Thunder & Rain and Whiskey Treats. Show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $10-$12.

Thursday, April 21

Afroman headlines Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom for a post-4/20 show with openers Meelo V, D-Stylz, Dapper, ArtistSent, David Frederick and Dirty Bong Water. Show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $13-$15. 

Saturday, April 23

Still Smokin' features Devin the Dude, with High Five, Sid Madrid, U.T.I.C.A. (Undeniably the Illest Cat Around) at the Summit Music Hall. Show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $16-$35.

Texas Hippie Coalition is at Herman's Hideaway with Lola Black, Fist Fight and Anatomy of Bad. Show starts at 8 p.m. are $15/$20 and $50 for the VIP meet and greet.
