While 4:20 p.m. has long been an ideal time to smoke a blunt, April 20 in Colorado has become an unabashed holiday for tokers as well as a hot spot for pot-centric musical acts who conveniently choose to play the state around this time of year. Sure, there are a bunch of shows on 4/20, like the now-annual appearance of Snoop Dogg at Fiddler's Green and Flosstradamus at Red Rocks, but there are also a number of shows leading up to 4/20 and after it.
Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15
Brooklyn-based hip-hop group Flatbush Zombies get a head start on 4/20 with two nights at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Thursday, April 14, at Friday, April 15. The shows start at 9 p.m., and tickets are $25-$28.
Denver 4/20 Fest, a three-day event — from Friday, April 15, through Sunday, April 17 — at the GlitterDome, features music by Lil' Flip. It runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days, and tickets are $15.

Following the 4/20 Rally, there will be a second line from Civic Center Park to Stoney's, where the Soulful Strutters Brass Band perform at 9 p.m. The event is a benefit for Rising Foundations, and proceeds from the event will be used to renovate a 150-year-old home in New Orleans's Central City neighborhood that will provide free transitional housing, re-entry programming and community health-care services for people coming home from prison.
New Orleans rapper Curren$y is at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom with openers ITsEVi, Planes!, Trayce Chapman, Lêj3n and Talent Among Us. The show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $25-$40.
