Earlier this month, Christopher Garduno, 38, was found murdered outside Village By the Park Apartments in Northglenn.

Now, the Northglenn Police Department has made an arrest in the case, jailing Demetrius Trujillo, 35, on a first-degree-murder warrant. Thus far, though, details are scarce.

Yesterday afternoon, according to the NPD, the investigation into the death of Garduno, whose body bore the marks of "at least one" gunshot wound, led officers to an apartment at 8675 Mariposa Street in Thornton, where Trujillo was located.

Shortly after SWAT team members surrounded the apartment, Trujillo emerged in the company of two men and surrendered to police.

At this point, the department is releasing no additional information about the men with Trujillo during the bust, including whether they have any connection to the killing or were simply bystanders. In the meantime, cops are still asking those with information about the killing to contact Northglenn Detective Paul Gesi at 303-450-8893, extension 8857, or Detective Kellon Hassenstab at 303-450-8893, extension 8855.

Here's a larger look at Trujillo's mug shot, followed by our previous coverage.

Original post, 6:50 a.m. September 5: Yesterday at about this time, we contacted the Northglenn Police Department in regard to a release concerning what was described as a "suspicious death." Our question: Is the case, which involved a locked car containing the body of a man now being identified as Christopher Lee Garduno, being investigated as a homicide? The answer finally came yesterday evening. And it was "yes."

The NPD is being spare with details of the killing thus far. Officers were called to the Village by the Park Apartments, 10701 Pecos Street, at around 11 a.m. on Monday, September 3, on a report of an unresponsive person. They subsequently found Garduno, 38, inside a locked vehicle near building 23 of the complex.

Garduno suffered what's described as "at least one" gunshot wound.

At this point, no suspects have been named. Anyone with information about the matter is encouraged to phone Northglenn Detective Paul Gesi at 303-450-8893, extension 8857, or Detective Kellon Hassenstab at 303-450-8893, extension 8855.
