Jeffrey Warkocz, Colorado Springs cop, busted for drug felony and more

In recent months, we've been inundated with allegations of police officers breaking bad in a big way. Note the seven Denver cops to get in trouble in 2014, another Denver officer who blamed his DUI on an imaginary friend, and an ex-cop from Walsenburg accused of dealing heroin.
The latest law enforcer on the wrong side of the law? Colorado Springs Police officer Jeffrey Warkocz, who's been arrested on a felony drug charge -- and that's not all.

Thus far, the Colorado Springs Police Department has released only the basics in regard to Warkocz's bust. The CSPD notes that after an investigation, the 51-year-old, who's reportedly been a member of the force since 2002, was arrested at around 6 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, a class 4 felony.
The case is being referred to the district attorney's office in anticipation of formal charges. In the meantime, Warkocz has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Additional information comes courtesy of the Colorado Springs Gazette, which cites court documents showing that Warkocz has also been accused of careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident to police owing to an incident in April.
Warkocz is due in court next week. In the meantime, Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey has released the following statement: "The arrest of an officer not only impacts the department but also the community we serve. Please be reassured that the investigation is conducted with the same integrity and the arrest is carried out in the same manner as all of our investigations."
No doubt Carey and other police chiefs in the area wish fewer of these investigations were necessary. Here's a look at Warkocz's full-size booking photo.
