Marijuana: Three Colorado communities to get their first recreational pot shops
Between June 1 and July 1, the State of Colorado has issued six new retail-marijuana licenses, three of them in municipalities that (until now) were strangers to recreational pot.
Moffat, Edwards and Manitou Springs will all be offering recreational marijuana in the near future -- or sooner.
High Valley Retail Cannabis, 60250 County Road T in Moffat, is said to be already open for business, although phone access is intermittent.
New Hope Wellness Center, 210 Edwards Village Boulevard in Edwards, is the first dispensary in Edwards to obtain a rec license, under the Berlin International parent company name; the "doing business as" name is listed as Cannika. There's no word yet on whether New Hope Wellness Center plans to rebrand when it implements recreational sales.
Maggie's Farm is opening up a Manitou Springs location, and the recreational license for Maggie's Farm at 141 Manitou Avenue has been approved by the state.
And there were more additions, too.
Crested Butte Wellness Center, 329 Belleview Avenue in Crested Butte, is the third rec location in that mountain town and is currently open for recreational clients.
Closer to home, At Home Remedies, 4735 West 38th Avenue, has received a recreational license from the state -- but city approval is still down the road, so staffers say not to look for rec sales there until this fall.
Rocky Road Remedies has received a state license for the 40814 Highway 6 location in Avon, too; no word yet on when that location is expected to open or whether the business name will reflect the parent company name. There's one other recreational license that's been issued in Avon, but so far, neither dispensary has opened to the best of our knowledge.
And there was one more change in June: The recreational license issued to Cloud City Compassionate Care, 1013 Poplar Street in Leadville, has been transferred to Earl's, 115 Harrison Street in Leadville, which opened in June. Earl's will be the recreational branch of Cloud City, which is still open for sales to medical patients.
