The Denver Coroner's Office has identified the man who was shot over the weekend on the 2400 block of South Federal, an area captured in the graphic above (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map"). He was William Ortiz, 21. The release on view below describes the reason for his demise with chilling simplicity: "The manner of death is homicide."

On June 5th, 2009 William Ortiz, age 21, of Englewood, Colorado was transported to Denver Health Medical Center from the area of 2400 South Federal Blvd. He was pronounced dead at 6:09 a.m., June 6th, 2009. An autopsy has been completed at the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. The cause of death is penetrating gunshot wound of the head. The manner of death is homicide. Requests for an autopsy report when it is completed can be made via e-mail. Questions regarding the investigation should be referred to the Denver Police Department.
