Photos: Denver Police District 1 crime -- and whether it's going up

We've recently posted about the ten most dangerous neighborhoods in Denver and the ten safest Denver neighborhoods using Denver Police Department data. But that's not all the info the DPD has compiled. The department also tracks crime by police district, with stats showing whether offenses in a slew of categories have risen or fallen in the past year.

Below, see our photo-illustrated breakdown for District 1, located in northwest Denver. Figures cover January through April as compared to the same period in 2013 and they vary widely: Assault and kidnapping are down, for instance, but disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace are way, way up, helping to boost the crime total to a double-digit increase. There's a huge amount of info here. Dig into it below.

Note: The Denver Police District 1 Facebook page describes its location like so:

District 1 is located in the NorthWest quadrant of Denver. The boundaries are W 6th Ave on the SOUTH to the city limits (W 52nd Ave) on the NORTH and I-25/Platte River on the EAST to the city limits (N Sheridan Blvd/ N Harlan St) on the WEST.
We've included a District 1 map at the bottom of this post.
