Pot Pavilion at Denver County Fair -- and Dana Cain -- will be fully exposed in Penthouse
Artistic entrepreneur Dana Cain, co-founder of the Denver County Fair, can cross one thing off her bucket list. She's going to be in Penthouse magazine. "They wanted me to be the centerfold, but I don't know about that," she jokes. "I'm not at liberty to share the photos."
Okay, so she's not going to appear in a photo spread. But Cain will be spreading the word about the Pot Pavilion, a new part of the Denver County Fair, which returns to the National Western Complex for a third round August 1-3.
The Pot Pavilion will share pot culture and feature competitions -- like speed rolling, best plant, best clone, largest bud, best hash and Doritos eating -- as well as comedians, Grateful Dead karaoke, a laser show and numerous vendors.
However, there will be no marijuana actually allowed on site (some of the events will be judged off site, while others will be represented with photos). And that's what Penthouse wanted to hear more about, says Cain, who made national and international news when she announced the Pot Pavilion earlier this year: "They wanted to know about the competitions and about the rules and the laws."
Cain says she's been told that the article, which will include interviews with several local ganjapreneurs, should appear in Penthouse's May travel issue. (They have a travel issue?)
Over the past few weeks, Cain has heard from reporters around the country and in the UK -- and a local TV interview with her even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
And that was her goal, she says, adding that she would like the fair to be as big a deal in two years as South by Southwest in Austin, or San Diego Comic Con.
