While anti-marijuana law-enforcers appear to be getting less attention in Colorado than they did prior to the passage of Amendment 64, their warnings are turning heads in other states.

A Comment of the Day on this topic, prompted by a decision to ban medical marijuana made by representatives of a California city after visiting Colorado, generated more intriguing conversation.

Below, see an exchange between two readers — one who feels most police officers are upset when cannabis is decriminalized, another who says cops of his acquaintance actually like progressive marijuana laws.

Here's what they had to say.

Jerrod Cumberland writes:

Cops get butt-hurt anytime anything is decriminalized. It likely makes it harder to meet certain quotas and get bonuses from their corporate masters.

Leon Wilcox writes:

Most cop's I know are for legalized marijuana. Takes less of their time away from actual crimes.

Jerrod Cumberland writes:

I reckon. But there's quite a few that get a jolly out of busting people for drugs. Especially in states where it's not legal.
