Reader: Nebraska and Oklahoma Must Have Something More Important to Do
A checkpoint in Nebraska.
You would think that Nebraska and Oklahoma might have bigger things to worry about than acting like narcs regarding their more enlightened neighbor. You would think that, but you'd be wrong. For months Nebraska cops have been pulling over cars coming out of Colorado, on the offchance they might contain some cannabis that might pollute their pristine state. And last week, the right moved to another front.
Nebraska Attorney General Bruning and his Oklahoma counterpart, Scott Pruitt, sent a joint complaint to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that "Amendment 64 and its resultant statutes and regulations are devoid of safeguards to ensure marijuana cultivated and sold in Colorado is not trafficked to other states, including Plaintiff States," and adding that "in passing and enforcing Amendment 64, the State of Colorado has created a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system enacted by the United States Congress. Marijuana flows from this gap into neighboring states, undermining Plaintiff States' own marijuana bans, draining their treasuries, and placing stress on their criminal justice systems."
Hundreds of Coloradans have focused their ire on our neighbors to the east, and they're smokin' mad. Says Chris:
Seriously, Oklahoma and Nebraska: There must be something more important to do.
Muhutdafuga takes it further:
Conservatives claim not to believe in nanny state government. Yet this is an example of them being all for nanny state government. They claim to for states rights, yet here they are against states rights. They claim to care about American democracy, yet here they are fighting against the will of the people.
Instead they are the American Taliban, the morality police.
