Just because this may be the most modern pay phone in Denver doesn't necessarily mean that it's used frequently, or that it isn't sad. Like many other sad pay phones in this city, it needs a friend.
Embedded into a giant red block placed in everybody's way, this pay phone sits idle as busy people fresh off the mall ride hurry past without giving it a second glance.
That's too bad, since the phone has every bell and whistle the 21st century has to offer, including (but not limited to) a digital read-out screen and a credit card scanner... because using change is so yesterday.
Despite advanced technology and modern design, this pay phone sits unkempt and in need of a good bath, not to mention a Band-Aid, since it's scarred with deep etchings and its keys are smudged.
No wonder its blue digital read-out seems to grow dimmer and dimmer with each passing day.
