Talk about the planets coming into alignment. Yesterday afternoon, during an appearance at the Fillmore Auditorium to pitch for Senator Michael Bennet, President Barack Obama warmed up the crowd by gabbing about medal-winning Olympians with Colorado connections, including snowboarding wizard Shaun White. Obama noted that he not only wonders how White and his peers manage to pull off such amazing tricks, but also how they get up the nerve to even try some of them in the first place; see the clip above. Then, last night, White talked in an NBC interview segment with Bob Costas about wanting to meet Obama, saying he had a good feeling that a call would be coming. I'd say so. Given Obama's falling popularity numbers right now, it'd be White doing the president a favor, not the other way around...
