John Elway may be an owner of the Colorado Crush, but the Arena League football team still doesn’t get much respect. The Crush, led by veteran quarterback John Dutton, were crushed 64-51 in a July 5 playoff game by the San Jose SaberCats

Although it’s unlikely anyone in Denver noticed.

In fact, Dutton’s sister-in-law, Kristy Lee Cook, is probably better known: she finished seventh on “American Idol” last season.

Despite the early exit, Cook has apparently signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville, the same label that Carrie Underwood works with. Cook’s first single will be released this August, making her the real all-star in the family. -- Jonathan Shikes
