Colorado Inside Out, Colorado Public Television's weekly public affairs show that airs on Friday nights, usually tackles current events. But every Fourth of July, the producers consider it their patriotic duty to create a Time Machine segment that travels back in time to a significant era in this state's history. And tonight, starting at 7 p.m., CPT12 will offer a Colorado Inside Out Time Machine Marathon. For three hours, the CIO Time Machine will control the station, starting with the Emmy Award-winning expedition to 1973.
There was so much Colorado history to uncover in 1973, notes co-producer Larry Patchett, that they made an extended version of the regular show that includes interviews with Richard Lamn, Nita Gonzales and a few more noteworthy locals talking about their take on the same issues tackled by the panel. Sadly, the station did not chat with Judy Collins — the famous East High grad I played in that episode. Tune in tonight for a chance to see me embarrass myself over and over — as Judy Collins, as Emily Griffith, as Margaret Brown, and several other ghosts who I hope accept my apologies. Behaving much better are my fellow time machine travelers: Dominick Dezzuti, David Kopel, Dani Newsum, Kevin Flynn and Raj Chohan. Here are a few more hints of what's in store tonight.
