Part folk, part Americana and part experimental lo-fi, these three songs explore new territories in each. Recalling the bleakest, most rustic moments of 16 Horsepower, "Black Mountain (Sore Tooth)" is hauntingly dark, like a sepia-toned lithograph depicting a stark, lonely scene, while "Monster Monster" is a candlelit pop song that could have been written in a nineteenth century mining camp to stave away boredom while a winter storm rages outside.
