This opening and kickoff party for Doors Open Denver will include a performance by community-minded dance, in addition to the art show.

On this walk today, Susan Evans will tell you all about edible plants and their medicinal uses -- so on your next hike, you'll know what to pick.

Cosmic Machine Part II: Drawings and Collage from Outer Space at Weathervane Cafe (Friday, free) Artist Taylor Boylston's dreamy new drawings will be on display at a reception tonight at Weathervane Cafe. The Big Cool Science Festival at Colorado College (Saturday, free) Head to the Springs today to please your inner Bill Nye and delve into the world of cool science. Barnes Science Center will host a slew of live demonstrations, hands-on experiments and more at this fun fair.

A Night of Fashion at Brushstrokes Studio-Gallery (Saturday, free) Artist Jim Howard's fashion illustrations have been displayed all over the country, and he'll be in town tonight to show and talk about his long career. See Howard's exquisite illustrations and paper dolls, and meet one of the most famous fashion illustrators of the 1970s and 1980s -- who now lives in Denver!

Steve Tem at the Broadway Book Mall (Saturday, free) Attend the very first event hosted by the Mile High Chapter of Horror Writers of America tonight at the Broadway Book Mall. Dark fantasy author Steve Rasnic Tem will be on hand to discuss his prolific body of work.

SexCom at Blush & Blu (Saturday, $5-10) This performance by Debbie Scheer and Shanna Katz is billed as comedy with a side of sex ed, so be prepared for an evening filled with laughter and adult education. Tickets are sliding scale, and free lube is included with your admission!

Last Sunday's Cinema at the McNichols Building (Sunday, $7) Spend a lazy Sunday with a double feature that will give you two movies for the price of one. Last Sunday's Cinema will present Blazing Saddles and Bad Grandpa complete with beer, wine and popcorn, of course.

Sunday Night Comedy in the Speakeasy at Brain Food Collective (Sunday, free) Try your hand at standup tonight at this comedy open mic. The theme is comedy confessions, so bring a true story and be prepared for the crowd to laugh at your totally embarrassing experience.
