Is That Velvet? New Works by Everyone You Know at Lowbrow Denver (Friday, free) The week leading up to Valentine's Day is chockful of romantic events, and Lowbrow will add to this celebration of the senses with a velvet-themed art show. Enjoy looking at black-velvet paintings and other creations while you sip red wine and feel the love.

Art of Winter Closing Party at Battery 621 (Friday, free) Celebrate the art and artists who participated in the 2014 Art of Winter series at a closing party tonight that coincides with the First Friday art walk.

Succulent & Savage: Interiors at Love Gallery (Friday, free) Another great art bet is at Love Gallery. For this group display, the gallery invited artists to create self-portraits showing themselves as succulent, savage or a combination of the two Tonight they'll unveil their creations.

First Friday Art & Magic Soiree at Mago's Magic Shoppe (Friday, free) Enjoy both sleight of hand and free refreshments tonight at Mago's art and magic party. As a special feature, coin magician Dave Neighbors will perform his act of illusion in the magic emporium.

Free Day at Four Mile Historic Park (Friday, free) Denver's oldest standing structure and its surrounding twelve-acre, pioneer-themed historical site will offer free tours today. Travel back to 1859 and wander the museum, pan for gold and see the farm animals.

sweetheART market at Wazee Union (Saturday, free) Pick up some unique local gifts for your honey today at the sweetheART market, where local artisans will set up and sell their wares -- everything from hand-crafted pickles to confections, kombucha and fashions.

Modern Love at Mod Livin' (Saturday, free) A fashion show, '60s soul music and limited edition art prints will all be on display tonight at Mod Livin's Modern Love. And to spread the love, proceeds from art sales will go to Denver CASA, a nonprofit that advocates for neglected and abused children.

One Night Stand Goes to War at Vintage Theatre (Sunday, $8) One Night Stand is taking audiences to the battlefield tonight with readings all related to war. The offerings range from an imagined bargain between Abraham Lincoln and the Devil to a tale of an unstable veteran.

DZL's Inventory and Packing Party at the Denver Zine Library (Sunday, free) Spend your Sunday volunteering at the Denver Zine Library. The library will be providing breakfast, lunch and music to kind folks who come to help pack up the extensive zine collection for the library's upcoming move. Bring medium-sized boxes to help in the process.

SIR-SWAP-A-LOT at Gypsy House Cafe (Sunday, free) Rather than spending money on new duds from the mall, bring your gently used clothing to Gypsy House this afternoon to swap for others' giveaways. Sip a spicy chai while you try on new clothes and feel good about recycling your old fashions.
