Living Alone, Chase Ambler, Disaster Canyon and Murmurs at Mutiny Information Cafe (Friday, $5 donation) Three local bands will be playing everything from spaceship rock to pop punk, and the Murmurs are in town, all the way from Seattle. It's a sure fire cool way to kick off your weekend.
Fridays Uncorked -- Free Summer Concert with My Old School at Bonacquisti Wine Company (Friday, free) Denver's urban winery opens it doors for everybody to come and enjoy a free concert from My Old School, a Steely Dan tribute band. Bring a few bucks for the food trucks and local wine. And if wine makes you woozy, bring your own chair to maximize your comfort level.
Oktoberfest at Ballpark Neighborhood (Friday-Sunday, free) This event is so big it lasts two weekends. The brats will be grilling, the steins will be overflowing and the kegs will be rolling -- yes keg bowling is a thing. Check out the schedule, the Long Dog Derby is not to be missed. Downtown Boulder Fall Fest at Downtown Boulder (Friday-Sunday, free) Welcome fall with open arms while chilling in a margarita garden. Let the kids go wild at the carnival, take in some live music and browse the arts and crafts. Did we mention margaritas? Peace Day at 16th Street Mall (Saturday, free) It's time to let go of the hate, people. Seriously. Today is an International Day of Peace, according to the United Nations. And while it is taking place worldwide, you can do your part here by on 16th Street Mall. Tons of speakers, bands and beer will keep everyone happy. Vine Street Uptown Neighborhood Block Party and Brewer's Olympics at Vine Street Pub & (Brewery) (Saturday, free) If you're not watching adults race tricycles and throw bags of yeast, you're not drunk on a Saturday. Entry to this day long party is free, but you have to buy your beer, with one hundred percent of the proceeds benefiting the grassroots political foundation New Era Colorado. Rumor has it a dude from The String Cheese Incident is heading up one of the performing bands.The Legacy of Bill Evans at Wash Park Center for Music & Arts (Saturday, $10 suggested donation) One of Denver's most respected jazz pianists, Eric Gunnison, will be slapping the keys in honor of jazz legend Bill Evans. If you're looking for a low-key Saturday, this will fit the bill.
Edgewater Celtic Harvest Festival at Edgewater Citizen's Park (Saturday-Sunday, $2) Scotch, herding dogs and bonfires equals a Celtic fantasy of a weekend. Go back in time at the historic pub and village, enjoy pipe bands and learn Clan history. For two bucks, it's a steal. Canstruction Denver at History Colorado Center (Saturday-Sunday, free) People build incredible things out of cans of non-perishable food, it's amazing to say the least. Take a look at the intricate architecture before all the cans get donated to a good cause. Pugs in the Park at Central Park Stapleton (Sunday, $5) Dogs in costumes are one of the funniest things ever, and pugs are at the top of the list when it comes to dressing up. Come see for yourself at this pug-a-thon today featuring costume, hot dog eating and kissing contests. Who knows, maybe you'll leave with a new little buddy who needs a home.
