“Winter just ended yesterday, pretty much,” says Keystone spokesman Ryan Whaley. The resort had so much snow this year that it even had to push the opening of its golf course back a week. The weather’s been so wacky that Whaley’s just decided to run with it. “Our Summer Remix celebration is a fun reminder that Colorado can always be a bit crazy,” he explains.

After closing for the traditional “mud month,” the mountain will reopen at 10 a.m. today with Hawaiian Snow Tubing at Adventure Point ($29), ski and snowboard terrain park action under the Ranger lift ($25, $18 for pass-holders) and, yes, two eighteen-hole golf courses (for tee times and reservations, call 800-464-3494). There will also be downhill mountain biking in the Keystone Bike Park ($25), a Strider Cup balance bike race for kids five and under at 10 a.m. Saturday, and other adventure activities including a climbing wall, boat rentals and a bungee trampoline.

“The whole town traditionally comes back to life this week,” Whaley says. “This year it just so happens that the snow on the mountain hasn’t gone anywhere, which means the terrain park is still epic, with twenty freestyle features.”

The Summer Remix festival runs through Monday; for more information, visit www.keystoneresort.com.
