If you’re a fan of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe and its film Super Troopers — and plenty of you are, since the Indiegogo campaign for the film’s sequel was met in a matter of hours —  then you may already have your tickets in hand for the June 2 Film on the Rocks screening of the 2001 cult comedy hit. But now you have even more reason to go: News just arrived via Twitter of a very special guest next Tuesday.
Late yesterday Broken Lizard writer/actor Paul Soter, who plays Vermont State Trooper Foster in the film, shared that his baby was going to hit the big screen at Red Rocks — a particular honor, since Soter is a graduate of Arapahoe High (class of 1987).  The fun didn’t stop there, as Soter’s tweet at the Denver Film Society, which produces FOTR, elicited an invitation from Britta Erickson for Soter to come up to Denver next week and enjoy the laughs of a few thousand of his fans.
Erickson confirmed today that Soter has taken her up on the offer, and will be part of the pre-show lineup, along with musical performances by Strange Americans and Bonnie & The Beard. “We actually looked far and wide for a way to get a hold of Paul," says Erickson, “but thanks to modern technology, this screening just got even more exciting. We’re ecstatic to welcome him back home to Denver — although his past with Arapahoe High and mine with Cherry Creek High (also class of ’87) might bring up a pretty unpleasant rivalry. I hope he’s prepared to be taken down a few pegs.”

Sounds like an old-school battle royale may be part of the evening as well.

Super Troopers will be at Film on the Rocks this coming Tuesday, June 2, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Pre-show starts at 6:30 p.m., and  the film will screen at dusk after an introduction by Paul Soter himself. Tickets are $12 at denverfilm.org — and you can continue to make Super Troopers 2 a better film by helping to fund it at indiegogo.com
