Art and science may seem like strange bedfellows, but the two fields cross over more often than most people imagine. Their intertwined relationship is the subject of Untitled 67: Chain Reaction, the latest installment in the Denver Art Museum’s Final Fridays series. “We took inspiration from our newly opened Western bronze exhibit,” explains Rose Eason, coordinator of adult and college programs at the DAM. “Since bronze is such a scientific type of medium, we wanted to look into the scientific and technological sides of art and consider the ways art can be engineered.”

This evening’s exploration of that theme includes a bronze-pouring demonstration, two tours, a jazz duo, a technological riff on Sandy Skoglund’s popular “Fox Games” piece and lots more. “‘Chain Reaction’ is science, music and history,” says Eason. “We try to program around creativity. Everything we do relates back to our collections somehow, so in that way Untitled is art-focused, but we’re really approaching it with a broader lens.”

The program starts tonight at 6 p.m. at the Denver Art Museum, 100 West 14th Avenue Parkway. Untitled is included in regular museum admission, which starts at $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. For tickets and more information, visit denverartmu-seum.org.
